Talent Show Sign Up Form

Talent Show 2021 FAQ’s

1.My child wants to work in a group.  What do I do?

  • Traditionally, students assemble their own groups within their classes, neighborhood groups or friends.  This year, we encourage those working this way to rehearse outdoors when the weather permits, masked and socially distanced.
  • ONE parent should register the entire group on the Google Form.  This parent is responsible for communicating all information between the Talent Show Committee and the group (formerly known as the ‘chaperone’ role).

2.  What types of acts are permitted?

  • Instrument playing, singing, dancing, comedy, magic and martial arts are some of most common.
  • All acts must be 1 minute and 30 seconds long to keep the show manageable and fair (finale excluded).
  • Lyrics of any song must be appropriate for a school setting.  When you register, please provide a link to lyrics (if singing or dancing) so the committee can approve them.

3. What about the look-see and dress rehearsal?

  • We will ask for a picture of any costume that may be worn in the video.  Costumes must be school appropriate; no belly shirts, no short shorts, no shirts with offensive language or graphics.

4. How are we filming our Act?

  • If you are recording yourself, we will send detailed instructions on how to record your child(ren)s act. From there, the Talent Show Committee will edit the acts together into two ‘shows’ based on age.
  • We would like to be able to film the acts in one location, TBA.  This will depend on the virus and current restrictions, probably in early April.  This will be an OPTION for acts if we move forward with this.  We want everyone to feel comfortable.
  • If we are filming the act for you, there will be a sign up genius provided with time slots to allow for cleaning in between each group.
  • All groups MUST be socially distant and masked, regardless of where they film.

5. What about a Program and Kids Art?

  • Traditionally we have a print program that features artwork by our students.
  • This will still take place but will be in PDF format, similar to last spring’s program.
  • Submission calls for kids artwork will be sent out in late February.

6. My child wants to be in two acts?

  • ONLY 6th grade students will be permitted to perform in two acts; one of their own and one that is the group finale
  • Details for the finale will be announced by the 6th grade Talent Show Chairs.
